The five-alive index, which is focused on mobile-business, crowned its 10th anniversary with the highest index level since 08. Nov. 2000! In 2010 the mobile-business benchmark gained about 28% and out-performed comparable indices, such as the Nasdaq Composite or the FTSE techMARK which both closed the year below the 20%-mark.
The five-alive index was launched in January 2000 and counts today 50 companies from the mobile-business, which contains mobile-provider, smart-phone producer, software developer, mobile-media agencies, mobile browser developer, navigation specialists, mobile vendors and other mobile services. The five-alive index is an cosmopolitan and consists of corporations from 24 nations today. Index currency is the Euro.

After "two years five-alive AG" we almost forgot another anniversary this year.
The five-alive index was launched at the 14th of July 2000 and than recalculated to the date of January the 3rd, 2000. The index is composed initially of two, then composed of three sub-indices and includes 20 values for the start.
The weighting was per value of 400 € - possibly were included half and quarter shares in the index. If the 400 € on admission to or were not reached, was taken after rounding nearest commercial quantities.
During the year 2000, the five-alive index is intended for various rule changes and eventually swell to 30 ingredients. Since February 2002 there are 40 values in the areas such as online investing and mobile business.
Since first of June 2002, the five-alive index contains 50 values, and since 2004 the index is a pure wireless-index.
The spectrum ranges from mobile device manufacturers, mobile-providers and suppliers of transmission towers to software developers and content providers.
Until March 2006, the sizes of the various positions were updated manually in order to maintain the proportionality. Since then, a computerized calculation happens on a daily basis.
From the start-up team of 2000 only MobilCom [freenet], Nokia and Psion are still part of the index, with only the latter two stayed without interruptiom.
Over the years we saw many mobile-business veterans come and go. Some were bought, often by the parent, such as TIM or AT&T wireless, or by competitors such as Braindock by Handango, Wayfinder by Vodafone or Tele Atlas by tomtom. Others had simply to make room for new values in the index, and others sank into obscurity, such as AvantGo or Wapme Systems.
The five-alive index started in January 2000 at a level of 7792, 39, and is now at 6045.42 points, about 280% above its low of March 2003.
